Travel and Accommodation

The conference will be hosted at the Conference Center Monte Verità in the South of Switzerland. Overlooking lake Maggiore, the Center is situated above the picturesque town of Ascona in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. The site has attracted writers, intellectuals and artists since its beginning and is an ideal place to develop ideas and hold meetings.

During the conference, the Conference Hotel Monte Verità will provide full board (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Coffee breaks).

The meals fee is 225 CHF (total for four days) for all participants. The Conference Hotel Monte Verità provides meals including coffee breaks, lunch, dinner, welcome drinks, final evening banquet and fee for the excursion. For participants staying at Monte Verità, the meals package is added to the room costs. Participants staying in other hotels in Ascona are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the meal package.

The accommodation fee is 320 to 540 CHF (total for 4 nights including breakfast) depending on the room category (shared double room or single room). The Conference Hotel Monte Verità provides accommodation in single and double rooms. If you have a suggestion for room sharing please indicate the name in your booking.

After completing the registration and payment of the registration fee by credit card, you will receive a code to be used for the board and lodging booking on the Monte Verità’s booking platform. Conference grants for early stage career researchers

Early stage career researchers (doctoral student or <10 years after PhD) submitting an abstract are invited to apply for competitve conference grants, covering registration fee, accommodations and meals. When submitting your abstract via our submission procedure, please apply by email to diapause2019@demariaevent.ch, additionally supplying your CV.

You can find detailed travel information on the Congressi Stefano Franscini webpage starting from here. Directions are sorted by arrival airport. The two closest and better connected international airports are Zurich (Switzerland) and Milano Malpensa (Italy).

Be advised that the trip from Zurich and Milano airports to Monte Verità will take about 2.5 to 3 hours (waiting time not included).

An 11-seats shuttle bus will run between Locarno and the Conference Center on arrival day (June 2nd, approximately between 2pm and 6pm) and on departure day (June 6th, approximately between 7am and 11am). The exact departure times will be posted here around 2 weeks before arrival. This free service will work on a first come-first serve basis.
